CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:
Performs aircraft maintenance to include removal, replacement, repair and modification of aircraft and/or aircraft systems and components. Applies technical knowledge and experience to repair aircraft discrepancies. Must be able to read, write and interpret instructions, technical manuals and/or directives necessary for the accomplishment of job assignment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs tasks as assigned/directed by Crewleader and/or Leadman in accordance with instructions, applicable technical data, manuals and directives.
2. Ensures that all aircraft parts/components removed from an aircraft are properly documented by a valid Maintenance Action Form and Job Control Number, ensuring repairable, serviceable or unserviceable parts are properly tagged and turned in and/or disposed of.
3. Evaluates aircraft discrepancies to identify methods of repair and/or replacement. Identifies necessary parts, materials and tooling requirements.
4. Repair and/or replace aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, empennage and functional components.
5. Utilize manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, Maintenance Engineering Directives, Maintenance Requirement Cards, Technical Directives, schematics, drawings, blueprints, charts and other applicable publications to replace, repair, test and modify assigned systems.
6. Comply with and follow established standards of workmanship, safety, quality, and production.
7. Repair and/or replace engines and defective engine parts, components and accessories. Reassemble and install engine on aircraft utilizing appropriate support equipment.
8. Adjust, repair, and/or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
9. Performs miscellaneous duties servicing aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental, fuel and oxygen systems, including cleaning screens and filters and proper greasing and lubrication of aircraft.
10. Performs the duties and responsibilities of the lesser grade classifications in area of responsibility.
11. Assists in aircraft inventory, acceptance and transfer inspections.
12. Make recommendations to management to improve productivity, increase efficiencies and/or cut costs.
13. Required to be Plane Captain certified.
14. Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required for training of personnel in the same or lesser grade classifications in area of responsibility. Demonstrates job procedures.
15. Provides and maintains own hand tools as proscribed by minimum tool list.
16. Comply with all applicable programs including Safety, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Hazardous Communications, Corrosion Control and Tool Control.
17. Participates in the proper maintenance and cleanliness of spaces and facilities.
18. Work harmoniously with other employees promoting teamwork and cooperation.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

CLASSIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge:Possess knowledge/expertise in Organizational Aircraft Maintenance. Demonstrate knowledge of applicable technical manuals, service bulletins, maintenance manuals, maintenance forms and continuous inspection procedures. Ability to read, write, understand and communicate the English language and to follow written instruction.Experience:FAA A&P license or two (2) years organizational aircraft maintenance experience consisting of removing and replacing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, propellers, and landing gear components on T44/A, T34, or comparable aircraft. Must have experience in the detection, treatment and prevention of corrosion.Equipment Operated:Aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicles, tugs, tractors, servicing carts, test equipment, hand tools, power tools, shears, rivet guns, and drills.Education/Licenses:Graduation of high school or (GED). Valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass any Government and/or Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.Physical Effort:Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires frequent climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing and reaching above shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision to include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Requires hearing to normal range. May require use of respirator.WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that range from a standard shop environment, where there is no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sun, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where noise hazards are prevalent.Potential Hazards:Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets; working on or around aircraft and machinery.Work Location:Aircraft maintenance shops, hangars and flight line. Requires travel in support of cross-country rescue and detachments of unknown duration. |
