Job Desc: CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Perform aircraft maintenance on T34C aircraft to include inspection, operational test, removal, replacement, repair, and modification of aircraft and/or aircraft systems and components. Apply technical knowledge and experience to solve problems and to troubleshoot and repair aircraft discrepancies. Evaluate work processes performed by crewmembers. Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to employees assigned to crew.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   Ensure that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, manuals, instructions, and directives. Works closely with Leadman, Crew Leader, and Maintenance Coordinator, and Foreman for work assignments, keeping them informed of the status of work in progress in areas of responsibility.

2.   Evaluate aircraft discrepancies to identify methods of repair and/or replacement. Identify necessary parts, materials, and tooling requirements for completion of assigned maintenance tasks.

3.   Ensure that all parts/components removed from an aircraft are properly documented by a valid Maintenance Action Form and Job Control Number, ensuring repairable, serviceable, or unserviceable parts are properly tagged and turned in and/or disposed of.

4.   Repair, replace, and/or rig aircraft systems and structures such as wings, fuselage, empennage, and functional components including flight controls, engines, and landing gear systems.

5.   Read, interpret, and utilize manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, Maintenance Engineering Directives, Maintenance Requirement Cards, Technical Directives, schematics, drawings, blueprints, charts and other applicable publications to troubleshoot, replace, repair, test and modify assigned systems.

6.   Monitors, evaluates, inspects, and validates work in progress and completed tasks ensuring established standards of workmanship, safety, quality and production are met.

7.   Ensure compliance with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, site and work center.

8.   Performs tasks in compliance with all applicable programs including Safety, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Communications, Corrosion Control and Tool Control.

9.   Assists as directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of government/company owned equipment.

10.   Inspect, repair, remove, and/or replace engines, and defective engine parts, components, and accessories. Remove, reassemble, install, and rig engine on aircraft utilizing appropriate support equipment.

11.   Adjust, repair, and/or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.

12.   Performs miscellaneous duties servicing aircraft hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental, fuel, and oxygen systems, including cleaning screens and filters, and proper greasing and lubrication of aircraft.

13.   Performs the duties and responsibilities of the classifications of lesser grade personnel in area of responsibility.

14.   Performs aircraft inventory, acceptance and transfer inspections.

15.   Performs T 34C Daily turn-around inspections.

16.   Performs turn up and taxi of T34C aircraft.

17.   Performs T34C collateral duty inspections (CDI).

18.   Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required for training of personnel in lesser grade classifications in area of responsibility. Demonstrates job procedures, safe practices, and conducts on the job training.

19.   May be required to perform NDI inspection.

20.   May require (non-crew) flight assignment.

21.   Provide and maintain own hand tools as prescribed by Minimum Tool List.

22.   Deals with the customer in courteous, professional and effective manner.

23.   Work harmoniously with other employees promoting teamwork and cooperation.

24.   Ensures the proper maintenance and cleanliness of assigned spaces and facilities.

25.   Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements: CLASSIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge: Possess a high degree of knowledge/expertise in Organizational Aircraft Maintenance, including knowledge and experience on T34C. Must have in-depth knowledge of applicable technical manuals, service bulletins, maintenance manuals, maintenance forms, and continuous inspection procedures. Ability to organize and plan work assignments adhering to deadlines with attention to detail. Must possess mathematical skills. Must be able to read, write, and interpret instructions, technical manuals and/or directives including the ability to read, write, understand and communicate the English language and to follow and administer verbal and written instruction. Requires the ability to work without direct supervision.Experience: Eight (8) years experience in aviation maintenance. Must have two (2) years experience maintaining T34C. Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention. Education/Licenses:Graduation from high school (GED). T34C Full Systems Collateral Duty Inspector, T34C Plane Captain, T34C Turn and Taxi, Ordnance Handler’s Certification, Valid Driver’s License. May require NDI Certification. Must pass any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Operate aircraft ground servicing equipment including, vehicles, tugs, tractors, servicing carts, test equipment, hand tools, power tools, shears, rivet guns and drills. Turn up and taxi T34C aircraft.PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIRMENTS: Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Requires frequent climbing of stairs and ladders, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing and reaching above shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision to include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires hearing to normal range. May require use of respirator.WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that range from a standard shop type environment, where there is no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sun, wind, rain, etc. Required to work in areas where noise hazards are prevalent. Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets; working at heights on or around aircraft and machinery.Work Location: Aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flight line. Requires travel in support of cross-country rescues and or detachments of unknown duration.
